I've been working on this scene for a while now, on and off whenever I could get a spare hour. I wanted this scene to be on the realistic side of the stylized spectrum. More akin to the Darksiders franchise. Especially Darksiders Genesis. Keeping chunkier details and a bit more color than a fully realistic scene.
I wanted to convey a sense of an old cathedral that has some mystery around it through an ancient stone door/tomb. The angel statues are there to protect the cathedral, thus the swords. But overall it's an active place of worship. Ruined, run down, but still kept clean and holy.
I modeled, sculpted when necessary, and textured every asset in this scene. VFX were pulled from Epic's scenes. One of the biggest challenges in this scene was the lighting. Figuring out how to achieve the colorful lighting on the floor from the stained-glass windows required a bit of learning and experimenting.
